“I was waiting for something extraordinary to happen, but as the years wasted on, nothing ever did unless I caused it.”
—Charles Bukowski
When I thought of creating content online, I just thought about doing it for a long time. I didn’t start making them. I used to imitate influencers, gurus, and all the creators down there, but I didn’t stimulate myself to do it.
That’s the only regret I have till now. I took longer to start writing the shit I was thinking about.
That’s life. It teaches you the lesson after you fail. Not like schools; schools first teach and then fail us. It’s like God saying, “You do it on your own first and fail. Then I will show you how to do it.”
These regrets and experiences taught me one thing, which I will share with you in today’s digest.
Schools don't teach anything to deal with life crises
As I said, schools first teach and then fail us. Similarly, schools don’t teach us anything to deal with life crises and fail us when we lack knowledge while dealing with our life problems, which come uncertainly and continuously.
I am not saying schools are stupid or bad. Schools are important, but they don’t teach us the most important subject of life, which is life itself.
At some point in time, when you are about to end school, life problems will start knocking on your door. Problems will come without any invitation. They come and knock; if you don’t open the door, they will enter your life from the windows or back door.
And voila! You don’t know how to welcome them. You haven’t prepared something to offer them. You run out of time, and the problem sits in your head without your permission. That’s where the subject of life comes and knocks on your door. If you don’t open the door again, you will miss the opportunity to learn the most important subject of life.
A chapter on the most important subject of life
Extraordinary results are a matter of repeating ordinary actions over a long period of time. Start with ordinary.
—Mark Mansion
Paradox of doing extraordinary things:
The paradox is this: to accomplish something truly amazing and unique and become extraordinary, you often need to do the same ordinary things that seem boring.
The journey to something extraordinary usually involves doing many little things that don’t feel extraordinary. Yet, those small, consistent actions build up to create something truly remarkable.
Why am I telling you this?
I am telling you this because the problems and the crises you are dealing with in your life right now are also ordinary. Everyone has their own problems in life. You are not alone in dealing with the uncertain crises of life.
Problems are like the levels of a video game, and you are the hero. You are the player playing (solving) all the levels (problems). You don’t know how to play (solve) the levels (problems) you come up with, but still, you try because the video game is interesting.
If life problems are that much similar to a video game, then why it doesn’t fascinates you? Like playing a video game and leveling excites you to level up more. Why? It’s because you find pleasure after completing each level.
Solving life problems also gives pleasure, but it’s hidden. You want something else in pleasure, but you get something else. That is why solving life problems is not as interesting as a video game.
The trap:
The trap is this: you let the problems of life seem extraordinary. You don’t solve your problems because you don’t find them ordinary. You find them unique and hard, and that’s why you let it be.
One piece of advice I would like to give you is that you need to think that your life problems are not unique and extraordinary.
The way out:
As I said, you don’t need to think of your problems as extraordinary or unique. Your problems are similar to those of other people like you. You are not the only one dealing with them. There is a person who is going through the same thing as you are going through and is solving the problems too.
Don’t let your problems be extraordinary. Be extraordinary yourself by solving and reaching the highest level of your problems. Yeah, same as playing a video game.
You become extraordinary when you start with the ordinary. Repeating the ordinary.
Does the chapter end here?
No, the chapter won’t end. It never ends. It goes on and on. It never ends because the problems of life don’t end. If the problem doesn’t end, then how can you be extraordinary? The reality is you won’t.
Extraordinary is a myth. You do the ordinary and master it. Remember, mastering something is not extraordinary. It’s just that you are okay with the ordinary. You are in love with the ordinary.
You are in love with the right thing, i.e., doing ordinary things.
