You'll become happy when you stop seeking happiness outside and start finding it within yourself. True happiness always comes from within, it must come from within.
So today's digest is all about algorithms and formulas for happiness.
Life Formulas I by Naval Ravikant. Naval is a very successful and happy person, in my eyes. Here are the algorithms or formulas for a successful life filled with happiness and growth (a framework for a successful and happy life):
Happiness = Health + Wealth + Good Relationships
Health = Exercise + Diet + Sleep
Exercise = High Intensity Resistance Training + Sports + Rest
Diet = Natural Foods + Intermittent Fasting + Plants
Sleep = No alarms + 8–9 hours + Circadian rhythms
Wealth = Income + Wealth * (Return on Investment)
Income = Accountability + Leverage + Specific Knowledge
Accountability = Personal Branding + Personal Platform + Taking Risk?
Leverage = Capital + People + Intellectual Property
Specific Knowledge = Knowing how to do something society cannot yet easily train other people to do
Return on Investment = “Buy-and-Hold” + Valuation + Margin of Safety
No doubt, this algorithm by Naval is so effective and useful. Let me detail the first one, it’ll be a powerful reminder:
Happiness = Health + Wealth + Good Relationships
“The three big ones in life are wealth, health, and happiness. We pursue them in that order, but their importance is reverse.”
—Naval
Naval always believes, and he always makes it clear that happiness is not an external game, it’s so much an internal one. True happiness comes from within. It must come from within. Health is part of the equation because immense happiness is impossible without it.
You have to have good relationships for your mental health to be happy. Good relationships cure your mental health, your mental health cures your physical health, and both unlock happiness in you. here’s the missing part:
It’s also very much difficult to be happy if you lack basic needs, like food and shelter. That is why wealth is also a part of the equation.
Happiness is a skill you’ll learn (Naval believes that):
“Maybe happiness is not something you inherit or even choose, but a highly personal skill that can be learned, like fitness or nutrition.”
—Naval
A poem on the happiness that is within us.
Happiness happiness a feeling I never thought I'd find a feeling I didn't believe in a feeling I now have a feeling I never want to lose happiness a feeling that is so strong a feeling that can cure all a feeling that is me a feeling that made the new me happiness -Scarlet Sabet
Next Sunday, I’ll break down my own happiness formulas, don’t forget to come up there.
If you want a more detailed view of the above algorithms, particularly for you, then don’t hesitate to comment or message me here:
I hope you enjoyed reading
Happy Sunday :)
I love Naval's approach to life and agree 100% with everything you've mentioned here.
