Welcome to Simple Digest (How I ended up doing my own thing and doing more than that)
My inner voice, my thing, my mission and more

Let’s begin with this powerful quote from a powerful personality I imitate.
“The world will ask you who you are, and if you don't know, the world will tell you.”
—Carl Jung
I have been told to run a family business, work under someone, stay with them in their shop, move to a foreign country, and do many more things.
I convinced myself, saying, “Okay, I have to run a family business, work under someone, stay with someone in their store, move to a foreign country, and do this and that.”
But something inside me said, “This is not for you. You have your own thing.”
Lately, I believe I have my own thing. So I should end up doing my own thing.
Following your inner voice
When I cleared my boards, I was forced to choose between doing business and joining college. Both options are better, and both have advantages and disadvantages. Doing business would have been a good choice. I could sell jewellery, make money, and live a static life. The bad thing about it is that it is a static life. You know I didn’t want to live it. A static life is a worse life for me.
So I thought about going to college. Here also, I was doubtful about what if I couldn’t make anything, what if I end up with nothing, or what if I end up begging and borrowing money here and there. So many doubts because the decision was tough, and the criteria were even harder on me, which was either business or college. There’s no doing both; like after college, I can’t go into the business.
I got my share to spend and go the college with that to build a better life for myself. I decided to do it despite all the doubts because there was something inside me shouting, “Go for it!”
College is so underrated
I have been told that colleges are the same as schools. You study, you score marks, you get into the job, and you live a better life with a better salary. But this talk was all bullshit.
I will tell you what college is actually for. Colleges gave you exposure. It exposes you to what you actually want in life. Going to college and seeing pals doing their thing, you get to try out things like them, and you do. You talk to people around you and share and gain knowledge with them. It’s exposure. You get to know about things and all. You build up skills on them. You learn many things about life and yourself.
How I ended up doing my own thing
I have been on LinkedIn since I was in the 10th grade. I used to think of it like a fun app, like Facebook and Instagram, and I opened it with that purpose. Honestly, it was boring. I quit. But in college, I again opened it, used it, and wrote my first draft. It surprised me because I got engagement on the post. The next day, I again wrote a post and got to know more about LinkedIn. I was loving those praiseful comments. I started writing every day and got what I wanted. Within six months, I crossed more than one lakh impressions on my posts.
I decided to be a writer.
After grinding for almost two years, in the last 6 months, I am on Substack too. I am growing here. I write digests and notes that people read and like.
I still don’t make much money out of this, but I am satisfied with this. I take pride in my work. I love listening to people talking about me on LinkedIn and Substack.
I have a strong belief that this is the path to the life I wanted. This is the life I had thought of. Maybe. Period.
Final Thoughts: The specific twist
Being actually honest here. I still haven’t found my thing yet. No, I haven’t told you a single lie above. I just need to redefine it. The twist is I am on the right path to get what I want to be, but still, I haven’t found it. I will never find it. I think no one will ever find it out because it varies. It alters in every phase of life.
I want those variations. I want to adapt to them and live. This is what I actually want.
I am already on the right path to get what I want. You should, too.
If you don't know what you want, you will be told what you want, and you will believe it.
