Let’s break down the above quote:
Control yourself (Ctrl)
Controlling yourself has been down from the start only. You surely remember when your parents compare you with some ‘Sharma ji ka betas’, you feel so low in the comparison and try to meet your parents' expectations, whose expectation is they want their child to be someone else. So, you put in the hard work trying to be someone else, and this is where you lose control over yourself.
Now, the question arises: how will you regain control and control yourself?
—> To regain control over yourself, start by understanding where it all went wrong. Hit the Ctrl key and see: The moment you began trying to meet others' expectations—like being compared to "Sharma ji ka beta"—you lost touch with who you really are.
Now, to take back control:
Realize It’s Okay to Be You: Stop chasing others’ approval. Think about what you enjoy, what makes you happy, and who you truly want to be.
Reconnect with yourself: Start doing things you love that make you feel alive. These are your strengths, not someone else’s.
Your own goals: Forget about living up to others’ standards. Create your own goals based on what you want, not what others expect from you.
Be Kind to Yourself: It’s okay to make mistakes or not meet everyone’s expectations. Learn to forgive yourself and move forward.
Focus on yourself: Remember why you started this journey—to live your life, not someone else’s.
The ones who have control over themselves will live their lives truly and fully.Alter your thinking (Alt)
The problem is constant thinking; you think about one thing only even if it’s not working. You need to alter your thinking—you need to think upside down. You have to fill the bottle with water and empty it, and then again, you have to fill it with hot water. And still, if it doesn’t work, you need to empty it again and fill it with something else that will work. It will work when you keep altering your thinking with an Alt key. (Here, the Alt key means forcing yourself to think flexibly.)
Hit the Alt Key
Force yourself to shift gears. If you’re thinking one way, press the mental “Alt key” and ask:
—> What am I missing?
—> How would someone else think about this?
—> What happens if I let go of this completely?
When you ask yourself different and greater questions, you think differently, and when you think differently, you fill up the bottle with the right thing.Delete negativity (Del)
The desire for more positive experience is itself a negative experience. And, paradoxically the acceptance of one’s negative experience is itself a positive experience.
—Mark Manson
The truth is you don’t have to delete anything; you just have to accept it in a way that everything works well. Let’s see this with an example:
You are standing on the road, and from the other side of the road, someone is staring at you. You just took it personally and went to argue with that someone. You argue and get to know the person is blind and isn’t staring at you.
Or, in another way, you tell yourself that the person is just having a bad day. Why should I make it worse for him? That’s it; you walked up to do your own work.
You know what I am trying to tell you in the above example, which can be summed up in one word. The single word for it is ‘perspective’.
Your perspective plays a major role in accepting such things and choosing what to experience—positive, negative, or turning negative into positive. The choice is yours because the perspective is yours.
Delete or accept. The choice is only yours.
I must say, delete well and accept well.Few more words
Control yourself: It is your responsibility to take control of yourself. Be Responsible.
Alter your thinking: Think differently for better solutions. When nothing works, pouring and refilling the bottle with something else works.
Delete negativity: Or, positively accept negativity. The choice is yours because the perspective is yours.
Control yourself (Ctrl), alter your thinking (Alt), delete negativity (Del), or positively accept it.
Could you buy me a coffee ☕?
Happy Sunday :) sorry, happy Monday :)
(I rarely post on Mondays, but it’s okay,
it shows I am flexible.)
